Classes Offered[]
- Regular Adult Classes: MA101, MA102, MA201, MA202, MA301, MA302, MA401, MA501. The class level is present by the first of three numbers with 1 for beginner, 2 and 3 for intermediate, and 4, 5 for advanced. The Regular Classes' content include pronunciation, conversation, and writing.
- Regular Children Classes: MC100, MC200, MC300. The class level is present by the first of three numbers with 1 for beginner, 2 for intermediate, and 3 for advanced. The Regular Classes' content include pronunciation, conversation, and writing.
- Conversation Classes:
- MA 211: The Mandarin Conversation Class for Cantonese Speakers.
- MA 19T: The Conversation Class for Travelers. It covers the basic conversation needed for traveling in China and brief introduce to different places of interests.
- MA 19B: The Conversation Class for Business purpose. It covers the basic conversation needed for doing business with Chinese people
Instructors' Duty[]
- Write up syllabus based on textbook offered before class begin
- Prepare teaching material ahead of time
- Deliver class and answer students' questions about Mandarin Language Learning
- Draft midterm and final exam
- Grade assignments and exams
- Write final self evaluation
Executive Positions and Duties[]
Volunteer Coordinator
- To recruit new volunteers at the beginning of a new term or at any time required, including making email contacts and doing interviews
- To assist on assigning instruction duties and classes to volunteers
- To arrange substitute instructors when needed
- To respond to volunteers' concern and complaints
- To assist with arranging volunteer-involved activities
Student Service Coordinator
- To reply emails and phone calls from students and parents
- To respond to students' and parents' concern, suggestions, and complaints about MLS
- To frequently communicate with students for their feed back
- To keep track of and organize extra instruction material and exams
- To assist with arranging student-involved activities with other schools or volunteers including making classroom announcement
Operation Officer
- To make photocopies as instructor requires
- To prepare media equipment and help with setup when needed
- To build up the volunteer supervising system including keeping track of volunteers' attendance and organize volunteers' individual evaluation and comments from our executives and students
- To record executives activities on Saturday
- To assist with preparing for stuff and materials needed
Recreation Officer
- To arrange volunteer-involved activities including gathering volunteers' availabilities and preference
- To arrange student-involved activities with other schools or volunteers
- To prepare food and material needed for activities
School Administrators
- To prepare textbook or material needed for class before first class begins
- To register students and answer their concerns
- To setup front desk every Saturday morning
- To do sit-in evaluation for every class in the middle of the term
- To do classroom announcement and student surveys
- To summarize evaluation and survey feed backs
- To finish director assigned projects by the due day
- To keep storage room and files in order
- To shop for snack and drinks for volunteers
